As revealed by Alan Nixon of The Sun, Bolton Wanderers have targeted Cardiff City goalkeeper Lee Camp to be the club’s new backup Goalkeeper.

The former Nottingham Forest and Rotherham United player of the season looks set to join Wanderers on loan for the season.

The 33 year old spent the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland.

With nearly 500 career appearances across all the divisions, Camp is certainly an experienced player.

Wanderers new academy goalkeeping coach, Ben Williams, will deputise for Camp on the bench tomorrow as the loan hasn’t been done in time.

Phil Parkinson stated earlier today:

“The benefit of having Ben registered as a first team player meanwhile is that is allows us to send Jake Turner on loan which is important for his development – he can now go out and learn his trade in men’s football.

“It is important that we’re covered with Ben who can play that dual role at the club and he will be in the squad for tomorrow.

“We’re close to bringing in another goalkeeper too – we were hoping that it would happen this morning, but it’s dragged on unfortunately.

“Hopefully that will be sorted as soon as possible however as we look to continue strengthening the squad.”
