Sigh.
Despite Bolton Wanderers admittedly being in the market for (a couple of) striker(s) this loan deadline day, it hasn’t stopped notorious ex-Sly Sports fibber Pete O’Rourke from linking us with Crystal Palace’s eighteenth choice left back Pape Souaré on loan.
The former Lille left back has struggled to regain his place in the Palace side since a horrific road accident back in September 2016 which saw him airlifted to hospital having suffered serious injuries to his thigh and jawbone.
He has only made two league appearances in the two years since, which might explain his desire to get first-team football but I would wager that Bolton’s priorities lie elsewhere today. That said, stranger things have happened, such as Bolton Wanderers selling Gary Madine to Cardiff City for £6m. I still wake up every day with a smile on my face knowing that we rinsed them for SIX MILLION POUNDS. Amazing.
