All talk of loan moves aside, Bolton Wanderers have a game on tomorrow. We, the mighty, title-chasing Wanderers face relegation-threatened Preston North End at Deepdale at 3pm.
Managed by former Norwich City boss Alex Neil, PNE have made a slow start to the season, having won only once in five league games - losing three.
Their transfer dealings have been slow but steady. Brandon Barker is a winger on loan from Manchester City - often linked to Wanderers in past seasons, along with Lukas Nmecha who spent time on loan last season at Glasgow Rangers.
Ryan Ledson, a new signing and former Everton prodigy, will be suspended tomorrow which is good news for us.
Games between the sides have been cagey of late, to say the least. Two boring 0-0 draws have been interspersed with straightforward PNE wins, meaning that the last time we actually defeated tomorrow’s opponents was back in 2001 during that Play Off Final win in Cardiff.
It is perhaps interesting that PNE’s only win came in their first home game of the season - winning 1-0 against QPR. Their second home game was a 2-2 against Stoke City. In between these fixtures and today they have lost all three away games. They lost 2-0 against Norwich City and Derby County, with the third being a 1-0 loss to Swansea City.
So, a tight game is expected but I would also expect, nay, demand that Bolton Wanderers come away from this game with a victory. I’m calling it. 1-0.
