So Bolton Wanderers only went and won a game in mid week, seeing off a Birmingham side who were sat just outside the play off places. The task doesn’t get any easier this week as high flyers Norwich City roll into town.
Bolton’s win at St Andrews offers a glimmer of hope agaist a backdrop of one win in twenty one before that game. A repeat performance is a must, and then we will see if it is enough against Norwich.
The visitors had drawn with Sheffield United and beaten Leeds United in the run up to their shock mid week defeat against Preston North End. Expect a reaction from a side which has been scoring for fun for most of this season.

Bolton face fitness doubts over mid week starters Gary O’Neil and Marc Wilson. A fitness boost for Luca Connell means his return is imminent, but this will not be in time for today’s game.
Injuries may force Phil Parkinson to change a winning team and a winning system, though the players who finished the game against Birmingham are all available for selection. Crucially, I believe, this is the team which was on the pitch when we scored.
Remi Matthews is in line to start against his former side now that he is perminantly a Bolton player
Alex Tettey will not be available for the visitors while Emi Buendia and Marco Stiepermann are also doubts. Mario Vrancic was already on the injury table meaning that Norwich will potentially fast track Mortiz Leitner back into the squad. I have to admit I know who none of those people are so cannot comment on how that will affect them.

Match Prediction
I think if Bolton play like they did in the week they have a fighting chance. After Norwich’s mid week slip up we will have to wait and see if that is a mere blip or the start of something more significant in their promotion race. I think we will see a reaction from Norwich and it will be too much for Bolton to handle. 1-3.
