Match Preview: Wigan Athletic vs Bolton Wanderers

Two teams in desperate need of a result at the wrong end of the table.

So Bolton Wanderers going into the game after yet another disappointing result mid week against in form Sheffield Wednesday. Bolton desperatly needed to back up a win over Millwall with another result if there was to be any hope of a survival charge. Time is running out and it may already be too late. Fail to win today and it certainly will be.

Wigan Athletic are also on an attrotious run of form. A 3-0 loss to Blackburn Rovers mid week is part of a run of two wins in 18 games. Truely Bolton Wanderers, I mean relegation, form.

Will something give today, or will this end in a draw which does little to help either side?

No team has won more of their points at home this season than Wigan. They have mustered only six points on the road, one of which was won at the Reebok in the reverse fixture. Bolton on the other hand have lost nine of their last ten away games, with a solitary win in there at Birmingham City. On the plus side, Wigan rarely beat Bolton with only two wins in our last 15 meetings.

Wanderers continue to be without former Latic Yanic Wildschut. There are no new fitness doubts for Bolton who will have the same squad to call on as the last two games.

Wigan will be without defender Danny Fox and forward Anthony Pilkington for this game, but will welcome back Nathan Byrne. Nick Powell is expected to be avaialble for selection which is a boost for the home side.
