A message to the “I’m not renewing whilst Parky is in charge” brigade

Get over yourselves

Times change. I remember back in the day there was a lot - and I mean A LOT of bleating about how with Gary Megson in charge at Bolton Wanderers people would “not be renewing” if the manager remained in post. This was in the Premier League. Good grief.

You can’t look at BWFC twitter for more than five seconds, seemingly, without coming across someone telling all and sundry how they are absolutely, positively, definitely not renewing their season ticket should Phil Parkinson remain in charge.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I would much prefer us to have dispensed with his services at the end of last season (or the season before that, tbf tbh) but to remove him at this stage would clearly be insane.

However, my issue isn’t with Parkinson (give that til 5pm on Saturday) but more with those members of the fanbase who think that now is the right time to abandon their club.

Yeah the football is rubbish and yeah we don’t know what this season will bring - or indeed the season beyond that - but if you’re only on board for the good times then I would suggest you take a mooch down the road and go to watch Manchester City.

Wanderers need all the help they can get and it is beholden on every single Wanderers supporters to get their arses in gear, when the time comes, and get these season tickets flying out of the door. It can only be to the benefit of the club that people claim to love for this to happen.

At one time you couldn’t move for those idiotic ‘once in never out’ posts. It’s time that those who claimed to espouse these principles to put their money where their mouth is and get behind the club.

The season starts on Saturday, but for us it starts the minute that the takeover goes through and that’s when the true call to arms should become an absolute roar.

It’s on you now.
