Man it feels like AGES since Bolton Wanderers’ administrators announced that Heads of Terms had been agreed with the Football Ventures consortium.
Since then, we’ve heard a lot from the supporters, a bit from the EFL, nowt from Football Ventures themselves and, of course, naff all from the Supporters Trust.
That changed, however, last night. Speaking on Radio Manchester, the chairman of the EFL, Debbie Jevans, has spoken of how progress is being made on the long-anticipated takeover with a view to ‘formal documentation’ being completed.
Jevans’ words and tone gave way to much speculation about how the last few bits of paperwork are all that remains between Bolton Wanderers and the latest fresh start.
We know that players are in training (after a fashion) and that signings are lined up. Season ticket packs are ready to roll and everyone is geared up towards the season beginning with a bang on Saturday, regardless of what team we put out.
So, is today the day?
It might be.
It needs to be.
