Probably the youngest team ever fielded by Bolton Wanderers for a league match. Probably the youngest team to ever play a Football League match, or at least not far off. Definitely the best and most impressive Bolton Wanderers performance in years.
Written off before a ball was kicked, but this is a club that has been there before. Odds on a Bolton win after the team sheet was announced rocketed up to 33/1. Did the young lads care? It does not appear so.
No Bolton player leaving that pitch today should be anything other than proud. Alexander in goal put in a fantastic shift keeping Coventry at bay. Zouma and Edwards were everywhere as Coventry came forward to attacked. Politic was trying the audacious, and not hitting it too far wide. Darcy impressed up top, as did King-Harmes. Those not mentioned also impressed and this result could not have been achieved without each and every one of them.
After years of washed up journeymen and negative football, maybe just maybe we finally have a Bolton team to be proud of? There probably will be some tough days for these youngsters this season, but the fans will be with them all of the way as we look to rebuild this club after years of neglect.
All of the lads should be proud, go get themselves a beer (non-alcoholic of course) and then focus on the cup tie on Tuesday night.
