Some fantastic trickery by Nathan Delfouneso teed up Peter Kioso to score the winning goal to hand Bolton Wanderers their fourth successive win in all competitions - the first time they’ve achieved that feat in three and a half years.

Unchanged for another game, Bolton Wanderers started strongly and dominated the first twenty minutes of the game, though they didn’t have the clinical edge to take advantage of their dominance. Eoin Doyle seemed to have been fouled inside the box, though the referee wasn’t interested in any penalty claims.

Boltons failure to take the lead allowed Scunthorpe to get a foothold on the game & by the time the half time whistle blew, it was Wanderers who were counting their lucky stars that they weren’t behind.

Thankfully, Scunny were as clinical as Bolton - and the visitors came out strong to take the lead shortly before the hour mark. Nathan Delfouneso manoeuvred past a couple United defenders with some silky step overs to lay the ball off to Peter Kioso, who calmly slotted the ball into the corner past former Wanderers goalkeeper Mark Howard.

Wanderers saw the game out from there to ensure a fourth win in a spin, something they haven’t managed since their 2016/17 promotion campaign.

The win pushes Bolton to within three points of the play-offs and six points off the automatic promotion places - with a game against bottom of the league Southend United next up.
