After a couple days of speculation (@luke_bwfc on twitter), looks like another promising Bolton Wanderers youngster if off.

According to Football Insider, Norwich City have won the race to sign 18 year old midfielder Regan Riley. An article from them states:

“Norwich City have agreed a £250,000 deal to sign Bolton Wanderers midfielder Regan Riley, Football Insider understands.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has emerged as one of the League Two outfit’s brightest prospects and caught the eye of Premier League side Brighton this month.

A recruitment source told Football Insider the Canaries have won the race for Riley’s capture, with the teenager set to sign a three-year deal at Carrow Road.”

Making his debut last season alongside many of the other Bolton youngsters, Riley has only played once this season - 53 minutes against Shrewsbury Town in the EFL Trophy.

Seeing as he isn’t on pro terms & we’re a Category Three academy, £250,000 (hopefully with some tidy clauses) doesn’t seem like the end of the world. But, it’s a shame to see another promising youngster leave so early in the his career.

We wish Regan the best of luck with the move - hopefully he can follow in the footsteps of many of Norwich’s youngsters in recent years and go on to have a great career.
