According to Football Insider, Bolton Wanderers look to have secured one of their first signings of the Summer; Newport County midfielder, Josh Sheehan.
An article from Ben Wild states:
“Bolton Wanderers are finalising the signing of Newport County midfielder Josh Sheehan on a free transfer, Football Insider understands.
He is having a medical at Bolton today after reaching an agreement on a contract.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider Bolton have swooped for the Wales international, 26, ahead of his contract expiring this month.”
Sheehan, who played all 120 minutes of Newport’s Play-Off final defeat to Morecambe on Monday, looks to be making the move from South Wales to the North West. Yesterday, the midfielder was named alongside Santos & Doyle in the L2 PFA team of the year.
The midfielder began his career with Swansea City & had two loan stints at Yeovil Town before making the move to Newport in 2016 (initially on loan). He’s mainly played his entire career at League Two level, though did make 13 appearances in League One during his time at Yeovil.
Sheehan joins an already fairly large contingent of Welsh players at Bolton & has played twice for the national team after making his debut last November.
