Alex moved to Bolton Wanderers following the expiry of his Blackpool contract in July 2013. Born in Nottinghamshire in 1986, Baptiste began his career with Mansfield Town incorporating loan spells with Tamworth and Burton Albion along the way.
He moved to Blackpool in 2008 where he would go on to spend five seasons and become club captain, being perfectly at home either at right full-back or in the centre of defence. He would score in the club's 4-0 away win at Wigan Athletic which began their single season in the top flight and after which he was named in the Premier League Team of the Week.
He joined Bolton Wanderers and was handed the squad number #15. Baptiste began pre-season as the first choice right full-back though his versatility was noted by manager Dougie Freedman as being another reason behind his signing. Upon putting pen to paper it was revealed that he turned down Premier League side Crystal Palace to join the Whites.
