Bolton Wanderers signed young, tall forward Conor Wilkinson from Millwall in the summer of 2013. The striker rejected multiple professional contract offers at the Den, with Millwall desperate to hold on to him, to join the Trotters. Millwall had previously been approached by Portuguese side Benfica, offering to take Wilkinson on trial. The young striker has seen time with Ireland's U19s and was a staple for Millwall's U21s for much of last season.
During the first half of the 2012/13 reserve campaign, Wilkinson netted six times for Millwall's U21s and was on the bench for his team's FA Cup run which took them to the semi-finals of the competition, ultimately losing at home to eventual-winners Wigan.
Wilkinson featured in pre-season for Bolton, starting the opening match of the summer against Rotherham United. Bolton would lose that match 2-1 with Marvin Sordell scoring Bolton's goal.
