When all was said and done, it was an incredibly frustrating night for Bolton Wanderers. A big loss on the road coupled with a big injury all meant bad news for the Trotters. No one can say that Bolton didn't try or fight for it though as they came so close to getting a point against a strong Leicester City team.

If you were not one of the 1,501 Bolton fans that travelled to the King Power Stadium, we've got the highlights for you.

Bolton went ahead after just three minutes after Chung-Yong Lee was brought down in the box by Wes Morgan and David Ngog fired home from the penalty spot.

Leicester City would equalize through a penalty of their own, after Danny Butterfield brought Lloyd Dyer down in the box. Chris Wood took the spot kick.

The Foxes would then go ahead, this time with Lloyd Dyer hitting an absolute rocket from ten yards out.

Bolton pulled one back following a long Sam Ricketts throw in that was not cleared by Leicester City. Darren Pratley volleyed home from close range.

The Foxes would find a winner, though. The goal came after a Bolton half-clearance fell to Jeffrey Schlupp on the edge of the area and he finished well with a classy volley.

Bolton nearly equalized at the death through a close-range header from Craig Davies. If it hadn't been for a spectacular stop from Kasper Schmeichel, the Trotters would have earned themselves a point.

After scoring his eighth goal of the season against Leicester City last night, David Ngog continued to run the rule over the Foxes for the majority of the match. That is, until the final few minutes when a heavy and awkward fall would see the big striker stretchered off the pitch.

It was in the dying embers of the match as Bolton pushed for another equalizer following Darren Pratley's goal to make it level and Jeffrey Schlupp's volley to put Leicester ahead. Ngog fell on his shoulder, much like Mark Davies did at Huddersfield Town, and suffered what is now confirmed as a dislocated shoulder. The striker will miss at least three months and thus the rest of the season.

Back injury plagued Ngog for the season's opening months and forced him to miss the majority of the preseason as well as the club's first few games. He now joins Tyrone Mears, Mark Davies, Keith Andrews, and Jay Spearing on the bench. Spearing broke his toe against Bristol City and will be out for three games.

Craig Davies is expected to slot right into Ngog's spot with Tom Eaves providing support off the bench.

Get well soon, Dave.

It started so beautifully for Bolton Wanderers as they and 1,500 of their supporters traveled to the King Power Stadium on a Tuesday night.

It took just over a minute for the Trotters to make something happen. Chung-Yong Lee stormed into Leicester City's area and was brought down by Wes Morgan. Bolton's usual penalty-taking squad of Keith Andrews, Marvin Sordell, and Craig Davies were not in the starting lineup. David Ngog stepped up and fired right. It was a nervy split-second as Kasper Schmeichel got a hand on it and the ball hit the post before eventually bouncing into the back of the net.

Bolton Wanderers would not keep the impetus going in the first half and Leicester City would equalize with their own penalty kick on 40 minutes. Danny Butterfield (who had a largely awful game) was marking Lloyd Dyer. The midfielder tried turning Butterfield but was instead upended and the referee pointed to the spot. Chris Wood, who had not scored in nine matches, stood over it and fired home.

It only took two more minutes for the Foxes to go ahead. A long-range free kick saw Chris Wood take the ball on his chest, round Zat Knight, and find Lloyd Dyer. The man who drew the penalty scored a sumptuous goal and Leicester would go into the half a goal up.

The start of the second half was back-and-forth until Dougie Freedman took Josh Vela off and brought another striker on in Craig Davies. The big forward troubled Leicester City's Michael Keane for the whole of his stint and even rattled the crossbar from distance on the 60 minute mark.

Bolton would equalize on the 71 minute mark through Darren Pratley, after some poor defending from Leicester City. A long throw-in from the flank bounced in the box and Pratley took it with his right foot, finishing with aplomb to make it 2-2.

Leicester City weren't done though. On 79 minutes, a long-range Jeffrey Schlupp goal (that lad that Bolton tried signing on loan a few months ago) would make it 3-2. the Foxes throw in was flicked on by Chris Wood and Jeffrey Schlupp volleyed home from 20 yards, into the bottom corner of the net.

Bolton Wanderers would lose arguably their man of the match late on in David Ngog. The forward went down off the ball, holding his left leg and would have to be stretchered off while receiving oxygen. The injury meant that Dougie Freedman had to make a change and it was Tom Eaves on with only a few minutes to play.

A number of Bolton flurries, a few stonewall penalty shouts, and Bolton piling men forward could not do it for the men in white and the final whistle blew with the score at Leicester 3-2 Bolton.

Despite the loss, results went Bolton's way. The Foxes dumped Bolton out of the playoffs for the time being but the Whites remain on 63 points with Leicester City in 6th place on 64 points. Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion occupy the fifth and fourth spots, respectively, on 66 points.

The Trotters are by no means out of it.

It's a massive midweek clash with a playoff spot in the line!

Win or lose today, Bolton Wanderers' playoff picture will be much clearer. Saturday's results largely went the Trotter's way, now it's time to put another nail in the Foxes' coffin. The win in Bristol was great, but they will still have to overcome their largely dreadful away form.

This is it, folks. We are well and truly in the season's final stretch and Bolton Wanderers face what could well and truly be their most important match (until hopefully the Playoff final). The Trotters have two away matches and two home matches left to play as there are just four games before the Championship table is final and the playoffs begin. Wanderers will take their show on the road to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City.

There are (realistically) five teams fighting for three playoff places with Bolton right in the thick of it. Sitting on 63 points, Wanderers occupy the sixth (and final) playoff place on goal difference alone at the moment. Nottingham Forest sit seventh, also with 63 points, while Tuesday's opponents are eight on 61. Above Bolton lie Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace on 65 and 66 points, respectively.

After 8 wins from their last 10 games, Bolton Wanderers are the Championship's form team. However, of their last six games, Bolton have only managed to win twice (which is a better ratio than the four away wins all season). Leicester's form isn't very good though. They have not won any of their last nine games, losing five and drawing four in that stretch. Their last home win came some five (home) matches ago in what was a 3-0 win against Blackburn. That said, Leicester City have conceded only 19 goals in 21 matches at home this season and carry a goal difference of +23 at the King Power Stadium. Bolton have scored 29 on the road but have conceded 37.

Leicester City had a heartbreak draw at the death last Friday as a silly decision from Dave Nugent saw Birmingham City awarded a penalty kick that was scored to seal a 2-2 scoreline. Where at one point, Leicester looked like favorites for automatic promotion, Nigel Pearson's men have fallen fast and hard. In better news for the Foxes, they have no fresh injury concerns.

As for Bolton Wanderers, despite Jay Spearing being forced to leave the Bristol City in the first half, the manager is confident he'll be fully fit for the Leicester City match. Despite the clean bill of health, Dougie Freedman could start Medo Kamara instead. That move wouldn't be considered as precautionary as Medo has proven himself to be a cut above this division on numerous occasions this season. Either way, it means that Bolton Wanderers have a capable midfield enforcer in their ranks no matter which way you cut it.

Questions persist around the Bolton side as to which players will be included in the matchday squad. Tom Eaves was recalled from his Shrewsbury Town loan while Josh Vela and Chris Lester were kept out of the U21s match against Norwich City.

There are also concerns about Darren Pratley due to how convoluted the FA and Football League's rules are when it comes to yellow card suspensions. The central midfielder picked up his tenth yellow card of the season on Saturday (eight in the league, one in the Capital One Cup, one in the FA Cup). Normally, that would be grounds for suspension but in the Premier League, the accumulation count had been reset. We can't say for sure whether that is the case for Darren Pratley or not. There have been no indications that he will be suspended but the aforementioned squad moves could indicate otherwise.

A Bolton win and other results going their way could see the Trotters up to fifth place (unless they win big and Crystal Palace lose by a large margin, in which case it's fourth place) while building a five point gap on Leicester City. A Foxes win would see them leapfrog Bolton by a point and, depending on the Nottingham Forest result, could push Leicester City back into the playoffs while knocking Bolton Wanderers out (for the time being).
